I am passionate and enthusiastic about my profession and its ability to make such a difference in people's lives. My career to date includes many years as a Psychotherapist with the NHS, Mental Health organisations and academic institutions. I have also lectured extensively in counselling, psychopathology and forensic mental health for the University of Southampton and other organisations. I have trained and practised in a range of therapeutic models including Person Centered Therapy, Integrative Therapy, Transactional Analysis and Psychoanalytical / Psychodynamic Therapies. This enables me to assess the most useful approach for my clients' particular needs. However, research shows that the most important factor in successful therapy is the relationship between the therapist and the client. This is central to my practice. I am experienced in working with adults, children, adolescents and young people. My experience ranges from mild to severe mental health problems. Some of the issues I work with include stress, anxiety and depression, relationship issues, self esteem, self harm and abuse. I have extensive experience of treating schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder, suicidal thinking and personality disorders. I also work with clients with eating disorders, anger management issues and trauma.
